Middlefield Wasp's v Cove Boy's Club.
|
||||||||||
|
Middlefield Wasp’s are forced to make four changes from the team that beat Dyce Boys club two weeks ago. In sunny conditions Wasp’s kick off and take the game to Cove. After a few attacks’ Wasp’s are awarded a corner and from a well worked training ground move, Lewis Stephens blasts the ball high in to the Cove net. Lewis Stephens is looking likely to score at every opportunity and looks to be a real asset to the Middlefield Wasps line up this season. The Wasp’s continue to push forward and are justly rewarded with a great second goal after brilliant work from Lewis Paton. Lewis Paton picked up a great through pass from the wasps defenders 35 yards out of goal he then beats a couple of defenders before placing the ball past the advancing keeper into the net despite great efforts on the part of the Cove defenders to clear the ball off the line. End of the first half Wasp’s are 2-0 up!
In the second half Cove boys rolled up their sleeves and came out fighting and put Wasp’s under severe pressure. Eventually Cove Boys scored a goal after the Wasp’s defence got themselves into a tangle in their own box. Middlefield were now under great pressure with Cove boys pushing forward at every opportunity, Cove equalise with a very well worked goal and then went on to another great move that produced a good strike from a Cove forward to take a deserved 3-2 lead in to the last 20 minute period. End of second period, Wasp’s 2-3 Cove.
Middlefield Wasp’s to their great credit came out fighting to get back on level terms in the match. Both sides were pushing but some good goal keeping from both goalkeepers keeps the score line at 3-2. Harry Smith, Middlefield Wasp’s the under 10’s goal keeper has had a great start to the 2006 season so far and long may it continue as he is a great prospect for the future. Middlefield Wasp’s are awarded a corner on the left and Lewis Stephens’s scores direct from the corner kick. In the remaining 8 minutes both teams have further attempts at goal but at the end of the match the score line remains the same. Final score 3-3.
A good fighting performance from the young lads in the team who proved they are ready to push for places in the team on a more regular basis. Well done lads.

Glentanar Sports v Wasp's (15-Oct-06)
In nice sunny conditions Middlefield kicks off the match at Woodside.
Wasp’s start brightly with Dom Burns and Lewis Ross causing problems for the Glentanar defence. Middlefield takes the lead from a good finish by Dom Burns. Glentanar then put the Wasps defence under pressure for the rest of the half but unfortunately concede a penalty. Dom Burns coolly slots the ball home to give the Wasps a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.
At the start of the second period Glentanar take the game to the Wasps and find it very difficult to get out of their own half, but only some great saves from Harry Smith keeps the lead intact. Eventually Glentanar score to cut the lead to 2-1 this is how it remains after the end of the second period.
Into the final period and both teams are working very hard. Lewis Ross is again causing problems with some strong running down the right hand side. Wasps then score a third goal when the ball comes across the penalty area to Lewis Ross who strikes out for goal and on the way to the back of the net the ball deflects off Lewis Stephens first to make it 3-1 to the Wasps.
All credit to glentanar, they throw lots of men forward and are rewarded when they pull a goal back in the closing stages, Middlefield, then have their inform goalkeeper Harry Smith to thank again as he pulls off save after save.
Well into injury time.
Middlefield lose possession in midfield their striker then runs past the wasps defence and blasts a great shot past the Wasps keeper and help his team to sharing the spoils. Final score 3-3
A disappointing performance after taking a 2-0 lead and very lucky to hold on to our undefeated record. On the positive side there was a great individual performance from our keeper Harry Smith.

Middlefield Wasps v Albion Boys Club under 10's 22-10-06
In nice overhead conditions the Wasps kick off this match at Harlaw in Aberdeen’s west end. The Wasps are at full strength for the first time in weeks. The opening stages are very even with both teams working very hard the pitch is very heavy due to heavy overnight rain and both teams are finding hard to play nice football. As the first half is coming to a close an Albion striker picks up the ball in the Middlefield half he turns and skilfully beats the Wasps defence inside out before coolly slotting the ball home to give Albion Boys Club a 1-0 lead
At the beginning of the second period the Wasps make a few changes. The Wasps start this period brightly forcing Albion boys on to the back foot. After a few corners in succession, Lewis Stephens crosses into the box and the ball is met by Dom Burns who slams the ball into the net for a Middlefield Wasps equalizer. Shortly after getting back into the game the Wasps begin to lose control to the Albion team who at this stage are getting stronger and more determined to get the result. As pressure grows on the Middlefield defence Albion regain the lead with a well worked goal. All credit to the wasps they fight back in great style and force an equalizer from a goalmouth scramble with Lewis Stephens being credited with the final touch to make it 2-2. Game on!
Before Middlefield can settle down Albion regain the lead for the third time when a cross is whipped into the Wasps area and knocked into his own net by Brandon Hunter trying to clear a dangerous cross to make it 3-2 in favour of Albion Boys Club. Albion are now well on top and it’s no surprise when they grab a fourth from a well worked corner kick. End of second period Wasps 2-4 Albion.
In the last period Middlefield ring the changes to try and get back into the match but Albion are now coming into a class of their own and are totally dominating the proceedings the Wasps are trying and working hard but do not seem to have any energy left in the tank. Albion goes on to score two more goals in the remaining time to run out convincing winners by 6 goals to 2.
It was a well deserved victory from the Albion Boys Club under 10’s team. The Wasps team worked very hard for the first 30 minutes before running out of steam. The team will have to work harder on defending and tackling if they are going to get back on track.
Keep the heads up lads and if we continue to work hard in training then things will turn around.

Middlefield Wasps Under 10's v Sheddocksley (sheds) 29th October 2006
The match kicks off in perfect conditions. The wasps kick off and try to take the game to sheds. The first half is very even with two well organised teams competing, fighting and playing some very nice football, both keepers are kept quiet with both defences working very hard to keep things tight at the back. Half time 0-0
The second half kicks off and as in the first half play is very even with both teams playing excellent football. Half way through the half sheds break forward and fire a ball into the Middlefield Wasps area. The sheds striker then hits a tame shot towards goal and hits a Wasps defenders upper arm, the referee awards a penalty and the sheds striker calmly kicks the ball into the net to make it 1-0 to the sheds. The wasps responds well and try and break down the sheds defence but are then caught on the break by sheds. Sheds clear their lines and their striker is on it like a flash, he controls the ball, holds off the wasps defenders and drills the ball into the roof of the net. All credit to the Wasps team they roll up their sleeves and keep trying to play right to the very end. Final score 2-0 A promising performance from the wasps for long spells in the match, the team kept their shape and played some nice football. A very good team performance and very unlucky not to take something from this game. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADS!

WASPS v STONEHAVEN MADRID 19-10-06
This match kicked off in very cold but dry conditions. Middlefield Wasps take the game to Stonehaven Madrid straight from the start. LEWIS ROSS, BEN GARRETT and DOMINIC BURNS had great shots fired and saved by the excellent Stonehaven Madrid goal keeper GREG DUNBAR. Both teams are playing really nice football to watch and only really good goal keeping by both GREG DUNBAR Stonehaven Madrid and Middlefield Wasps very own HARRY SMITH keeps the game all square. Middlefield Wasps takes the lead after BEN GARRETT wins the ball in the midfield and drives at the Stonehaven defence before striking a great shot at goal only for the Stonehaven keeper to parry the shot off his own post where Wasps striker DOMINIC BURNS is on hand to stroke the ball into the net to make the score 1-0 to the Wasps. The wasps continue to push forward and are unlucky not to add to their account. All credit to Stonehaven they are still trying to play nice football and force themselves back into the game just before half time with a good finish from their striker who coolly slots the ball past the oncoming Wasps goal keeper HARRY SMITH. Half time Wasps 1-1 Stonehaven Madrid.
Stonehaven Madrid kicks off and takes the game to Middlefield Wasps. The Wasps are now on the back foot but some good defending by BRANDON HUNTER and DECLAN McGUNNIGLE keep the Wasps in the game. The Wasps make a couple of changes with REECE MATTHEWS and DOMINIC WHITE coming on to replace LEWIS ROSS and MATTHEW FRASER who had both worked their socks off. Stonehaven are still on top and take the lead when Middlefield fail to clear a good cross in to their box and is eventually turned into the wasps net to make it 2-1 for Stonehaven Madrid. The introduction of both DOM WHITE and REECE MATTHEWS seems to be paying off as the Wasps are pushing more and more forward pushing Stonehaven deeper into their own area with LEWIS STEPHENS and BEN GARRET beginning to control proceedings. Middlefield equalise when a corner taken by LEWIS STEPHENS is met first time by birthday boy DOMINIC BURNS who slams the ball in to the roof of the net to make it 2-2. Middlefield now go all out for the victory but Stonehaven to the lead from a corner which is well headed into the Wasps net to make it 3-2 for Stonehaven Madrid. All credit to the Wasps team, they go looking for an equaliser and they are rewarded with a well worked goal, DOM WHITE collects the ball and beats a few Stonehaven Madrid defenders before crossing the ball across the goal mouth for DOMINIC BURNS to snatch his second treble of the season. The game ends 3-3 Co-Managers views, A terrific game with nice football, good goals and lots of spirit from both teams created very good entertainment for both sets of fans/parents. A deserved draw for both teams as no-one deserved to lose the game (two very evenly matched teams) A very good team performance from the Middlefield Wasps. Well done keep up the good work lads! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BANCHORY UNDER 10'S v MIDDLEFIELD WASPS. 26-11-06
----------------------------------------------------------- In nice sunny conditions the Wasps kick off looking to keep up their good form. Wasps make a couple of changes with REECE MATTHEWS and DOMINIC WHYTE keeping their places after good performances last week as subs. The Wasps take an early lead with a great finish from DOMINIC BURNS, 1-0 to the wasps as the first half draws to a close and the Wasps are pushing for more goals but with some very good goal keeping from the BANCHORY goalkeeper keeps the score at 1-0. The start of the second half sees LEWIS PATON replace DOMINIC WHYTE. The Wasps are playing very nice football with REECE MATTHEWS and LEWIS STEPHENS showing some very nice touches on the ball. Near the end of the second period BANCHORY equalise with a very well worked goal with their striker sliding the ball into the Wasps net past Wasps goalkeeper HARRY SMITH to make it 1-1. At the start of the third period the Wasps are under a bit of pressure from BANCHORY. Middlefield Wasps Defenders DECLAN McGUNNIGLE and BRANDON HUNTER are playing very well at the back keeping the BANCHORY Strikers at bay. With ten minutes to go BANCHORY are awarded a corner and from that set piece the wasps fail to clear their lines allowing the very good BANCHORY number 10 to scramble the ball over the line to take a 2-1 lead. Middlefield Wasps then put on LEWIS COBB and BRADLEY STRACHAN and all credit to the Wasps as they push BANCHORY back looking to equalise. In the final minute DOMINIC BURNS picks the ball up ten yards from goal and drives at the BANCHORY defence and very unlucky not to equalise himself. BANCHORY under 10’s hold out for a 2-1 victory. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Another positive performance from the Wasps they were very unlucky not to take anything from the game against a very good BANCHORY team. A very good performance by DECLAN McGUNNIGLE.

MIDDLEFIELD WASPS v WESTDYKE THISTLE (WESTHILL) 03-12-06
The match kicks off in both very cold and windy conditions at Aulton's, Seaton. WESTDYKE UNDER 10’S kicks off but right away are put under intense pressure by the WASPS forcing their opponents backwards. The WASPS are pushing forward with BEN GARRETT, REECE MATTHEWS and LEWIS ROSS at every opportunity. The WASPS take the lead with a well taken corner by LEWIS STEPHENS who crossed a beautiful ball into the path of REECE MATTHEWS who coolly stroked the ball home for his first goal for the WASPS. The WASPS continue to dominate and it’s no surprise when Top Striker DOMINIC BURNS makes it 2-0 with a coolly taken finish. The WASPS then make it 3-0 with another well worked goal that yet again came from the boot of LEWIS STEPHENS who flights' a great cross into the path of BEN GARRET who then volleys the ball home for his first goal since the first day of the season. The WASPS them make a couple of changes bringing on MATTHEW FRASER and LEWIS PATON. The changes have no affect on the WASPS team and their domination of the game and there is no surprise when DOMINIC BURNS adds a fourth with a great run and finish from him, LEWIS COBB and BRADLEY STRACHAN are then introduced to the day’s proceedings and it finishes 4-0 to the WASPS at half time.
The WASPS kick off the second half in very bad gale force winds but are still in control playing nice football despite the very bad over head conditions. The WASPS then go up the field and score goal number 5, LEWIS PATON who has a good run and feeds DOM BURNS a great through ball to which he despatches a great curling shot into the corner of the WESTDYKE UNDER 10 net to make it 5-0 and DOM'S third hat-trick of the season. All credit to WESTDYKE they are still working very hard for each other and are rewarded with a goal after good play by their striker out wide allows him to fire a ball across the face of the WASPS goalmouth where LEWIS PATON strikes the ball home for a very unlucky own goal after trying his best to clear the danger. The WASPS keep going forward and are unlucky not to score more with both LEWIS COBB and MATTHEW FRASER had shots well saved by the WESTDYKE goal keeper. The WASPS then increase their lead with a good goal by the WASPS, LEWIS PATON, MATTHEW FRASER knocks in a nice ball through the defence into the path of LEWIS PATON who runs onto the path of the ball bullets a high shot into the roof of the net to make the final score 6-1 to the WASPS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
A good performance by the WASPS in very difficult conditions and it was good to see REECE, BEN and LEWIS scoring well worked goals. A good disciplined performance by DECLAN, BRANDON and BRADLEY at the back, over all a very good team performance all round.
WELL DONE LADS!

MIDDLEFIELD WASPS v COLONY PARK. (17-Dec-06) This was the last game before the winter break and it was a very cold morning at Alton's (Aberdeen Sea Beach Area) All though the game starts in very cold but sunny conditions both teams did very well to entertain the spectators. Colony Park was a well organised and disciplined team which is a credit to their coaches and parents. Middlefield Wasps started in their now usual brisk manner and got off to a flyer that made it hard for Colony to come back into the game and get and any rewards for their hard work they were showing. Wasps scored 5 goals with striker DOMINIC BURNS claiming 3 but only getting 2.... Both LEWIS STEPHENS & LEWIS ROSS getting a goal a piece along with yet another great goal from new boy REECE MATTHEWS. COLONY PARK scored early on with a well taken strike through a packed wasps goal area. The game finished WASPS 5-1 COLONY PARK.
