MIDDLEFIELD WASPS UNDER 10'S v
ELLON MEADOWS.
28-01-07. The first game of the season kicks off in nice winter conditions at Alton pitches on Aberdeen's beach esplanade. This was also Ellon Meadows Under 10's first taste of action at under 10 level. As soon as the first whistle blows the Wasps offence swung into action with wave after wave of attacks against the Ellon goal. The ellon boys were doing a great job defending for the first 5 minutes of the game, they then conceded a free kick about 30 yards out of their own goal where Wasps midfielder BEN GARRETT struck a sweet corker right into the top right corner of the net, this settled the lads down and they then went on to score another 14 unanswered goals. Today's scorers were, LEWIS STEPHENS 5 MATTHEW FRASER 3 DOMINIC BURNS 2 REECE MATTHEWS 2 BEN GARRETT 2 Scoring his first goal in season 2006-2007 Defender, DECLAN McGUNNIGLE 1 This was a performance against a team that had not played a top team before and we have to give credit to the Ellon players who kept it going through out the game, it will take time for them to find their feet in a very tough under 10 grouping. We wish you guys well for the future and for the rest of your matches, Good Luck! _________________________________________________

| All games were cancelled
last Sunday due to bad weather however the Wasps coaches were keen to
keep the boys busy and managed to arrange a friendly against one of the
best teams in the Aberdeen under 10's YFA leagues.
Middlefield entertained East End at strikers indoor pitches in a
friendly Dom Burns 3 ----------------------------------------- Strikers Indoor Football
------------------------------------------ After the game the Coaches Gavin Ross & Paul Paton treated the team to a Mac DONALD'S. Success on the pitch is only one part of this teams make-up as we are like a big family and do many things together as in any big family unit would do even the players brothers and sisters and other family members regularly take part in events outside football times!

| Many team coaches outside the Aberdeen area may want to arrange friendly games with us in Aberdeen or we can travel if so you can either contact the coaches or the webmasters in the first instance.

| MIDDLEFIELD WASPS v BANCHORY
UNDER 10'S 11-03-07 ___________________ Today's visitors are Banchory, The match kicks off in near perfect conditions. Middlefield start brightly with Ben Garrett winning most of the ball in the middle of the park. The wasps are taking the game to Banchory but the Banchory defence are defending well. Banchory are now coming more into the game, The wasps are now second best all over the park and it is no surprise when Banchory take the lead with a very good finish from their forward. End of the first period The Wasps 0 Banchory 1. The wasps kick off again looking to get back into the game but once again the Banchory defence stays firm, the Banchory goalkeeper is having a very good game, his handling is first class. Ben Garrett continues to urge his team forward but to avail. Banchory are now playing some lovely football with attack after attack on the wasps goal. The wasps defence are struggling to cope with the Banchory attack and it is no surprise when Banchory extend their lead with a well worked goal to make it 2- 0. The wasps defence is now all over the place and Banchory extend their lead to make it 3-0. The Banchory attacker picks up the ball midway in the wasps half and runs through without being tackled by the wasps defenders, he strikes for goal and Harry Smith fumbles the ball into the Wasps net. End of second period The Wasps 0 Banchory 3. The Wasps make a triple substitution, with Matthew Fraser, Lewis Paton and Bradley Strachen being introduced. It seems to work, The Wasps are now making tackles and getting first to the ball for the first time in the match. The Wasps are now pushing forward with Matthew Fraser and Dom Burns linking well up front. Ben Garrett continues to keep working hard and Lewis Paton and Bradley Strachen are now pushing forward. It is no surprise when the wasps pull a goal back. A well taken corner from Dom Burns is met by the head of Ben Garrett who steers the ball goal wards, the ball is knocked into the net by Lewis Paton. The Wasps are now beginning to believe they can get back into the game, and so they do with another goal from a corner. A Dom Burns corner goes straight into the Banchory net to make it 3-2 to Banchory. With time running out the Wasps continue to push forward, Matthew Fraser puts Dom Burns through on goal with the keeper to beat , but the Banchory keeper is very quickly off his line to thwart the Wasps striker. Banchory then break up the park and make sure of the victory in the final minute with a well worked goal. Final score The Wasps 2 Banchory 4. For long periods of the game, the wasps were second best against a very good and organised Banchory outfit. The lack of fight and will to win was quite surprising, Our defending was terrible and if it does not improve we will struggle to win games. The only pleasing aspect from the game was that in the 3rd period we decided to turn up and start competing, if we compete like we did in the 3rd period at least teams will know they have been in a game. Well Played Banchory. |

MMIDDLEFIELD WASPS v PETERCULTER BOYS CLUB 25-MARCH-2007 Today's visitors are Culter Boys Club. The game kicks off in near perfect conditions. The Wasps kick off and take the game to there opponents. BRANDON GIBB is playing his first game for the Wasps and is involved in the first goal of the game. BRANDON picks the ball up in his own half and beats a couple of players before passing to LEWIS PATON, LEWIS PATON then sends the ball through the Culter defence for DOM BURNS to run onto and stroke the ball into the Culter net for a well worked goal. All credit to the Wasps they force themselves back into the game with a well worked goal. BRANDON GIBB wins the ball in the middle of the park, he passes to LEWIS STEPHENS who then sends a nice ball down the line to LEWIS ROSS who crosses into the middle for LEWIS STEPHENS to run onto and fire into the Stonehaven net for the equalising goal. The Wasps last chance of the match falls to DOM BURNS who is very unlucky not to score as the ball trickles narrowly past the Cove goal. Credit to Cove they step up a gear and go on to score 3 more goals to make the score-line 4 - 0 . The Wasps ring the changes but to avail. Final Score The Wasps 0 Cove Boys Club 4 The first half was quite even, the boys worked hard despite the conditions and were very unlucky to be behind at half - time. The second half display was not good enough, we the management will take the blame as there was to much changes made against a decent Cove team which didn't help the flow of the team. We must take our chances when we are on top and keep on fighting until the final whistle no matter what the score-line is. On the plus side, A very good display from HARRY SMITH in goal, and good to see BEN GARRETT is still in one piece after his trip overseas. Keep the heads up and keep working hard. We will put down to a bad day at the office. |

The subs MATTHEW, LEWIS and BRADLEY yet again came on and worked hard , helping to get The Wasps back into the game. Well done lads. -------------------------------- Just out of interest here is dyce boys clubs own report of the same match. Under 10's - Match Report
Middlefield Wasps 2 - 3 Dyce BC Sunday 6th May 2007 Aulton Dyce were looking to avenge the reverse they suffered at the hands of Middlefield earlier in the season. Middlefield kicked off with a strong wind at their backs which was an advantage they were to enjoy for two of the three twenty minute periods. It was Middlefield who were first to threaten when Frank Ross was harshly penalised after a great crunching tackle in which he clearly won the ball. The resultant free kick was comfortably gathered by Cammy McKay in the Dyce goal. Middlefield continued to press and were using the wind to their advantage and playing route one football which meant Cammy had to be alert. Dyce eventually came more into things and were trying to keep the ball on the floor and play a passing game. Despite getting on top of the things the Dyce boys were unable to carve out any clear chances but JD did manage to get a shot in after some sustained pressure but it went weakly past. Shane Pirie and Aaron Penny were solid at the back and were breaking up the Middlefield attacks and Jordan Clark was putting in some determined challenges in the middle. Dan Middler and Frank Ross then combined well down the right and forced a corner, the result of which was a Frank Ross header which was easily gathered by the keeper. Dyce kept up the pressure and a fine strike by Frank was spilled by the keeper but the Dyce strikers were not alert enough to cash in, allowing the keeper to collect at the second attempt. Middlefield hit back and were unlucky to see a great shot from their No.9 strike the post with Cammy beaten. JD then did really well to make himself space on the left and got a cross in which Frank got on the end of only to see his effort hit the post. Middlefield managed to scramble clear the resultant melee. Shane Pirie and Aaron Penny were putting in a great shift to keep things tight and they were always looking to build things from the back. Aaron then fed in Frank but the midfielder slipped as he was about to pull the trigger. The last chance of the half fell to Dyce when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Middlefield penalty area. Frank Ross took the free kick but his effort went just over the bar. 0 - 0 Dyce resumed the second period on the offensive and Frank fed Jordan Clark whoʼs shot went just wide. Dan Middler then made ground down the right and fired in a great ball which found no takers and was cleared after a scramble in the goalmouth. Middlefield responded and Dyce had a fright when the Middlefield striker found himself clear through on goal. Cammy McKay did brilliantly to stand big and managed to get a hand to the shot and knock it wide for a corner. Dyce took the lead moments later when Dan Middler skipped past two Middlefield defender and found himself bearing down on goal. He unselfishly squared the ball to Frank who had the easiest of tasks to knock the ball into the net from six yards. Dyce continued to dominate and it was no surprise to see them increase their lead moments later. JD took possession of a loose ball at the edge of the penalty area and fired in a powerful shot into the far corner that had the keeper well beaten. Tempers were becoming a bit frayed at this point and Jordan Clark found himself being reprimanded by the referee for going over the ball in a challenge. Dyce continued to press and following a corner by Frank Ross, Dan Middler rolled the ball into the path of Aaron Penny who fired in a great shot (some might have thought it was a cross!) which found the top corner to put Dyce 3 - 0 up. It was all Dyce at this stage and a great JD run and shot and a Dan Middler header from a corner almost saw the lead increase before the end of the second period. 3 - 0 The third period again started with Dyce on the offensive and Dan Middler did well to cut inside a Middlefield defender only to see his shot strike the inside of the post before being cleared for a corner. Against the run of play Middlefield struck back and a long clearance from their goalkeeper saw their striker nip in and get a touch before Cammy to net. Frank Ross almost restored the three goal advantage with a well struck free kick which went just over. Middlefield scored again shortly afterwards when Dyce lost possession in midfield and the Middlefield player struck a great shot which gave Cammy no chance. The game was a real battle now and Dyce were having to show strength and determination to hold onto their lead although they were still looking to play football and carve out chances while Middlefield were content to lump it forward using the wind. As the game neared full time one such long ball caused Cammy problems as it bounced up in front of him but he did well to palm it over the bar. The resultant corner caused Dyce problems and it broke to one of their players but as he pulled the trigger Frank threw his body at the ball for a great block.
FULL TIME 3 - 2
Scorers Frank Ross JD Aaron Penny
Another good game for the paying public which was deservedly won by Dyce and their play should have meant they won more comfortably. We need to learn to keep the ball with the clock running down to prevent fingernails being bitten to the bone though. Well done lads.

The Wasps goal scorers were as follows REECE MATTHEWS 3 GOALS LEWIS STEPHENS 3 GOALS LEWIS PATON 2 GOALS DOM BURNS 2 GOALS BEN GARRETT 1 GOAL LEWIS ROSS 1 GOAL BRADLEY STRACHEN 1 GOAL DECLAN MCGUNNIGLE 1 GOAL ------------------------------------------------------- Another good performance by The Wasps to end the season. The Wasps passed the ball very well and scored some terrific goals. Good to see some of the things we have worked on in training beginning to pay off. A big improvement in our overall play and the shape of the team is being kept very well even when substitutions are made. The lads are now showing a greater understanding of the game and it all looks well for the future. WE WILL HAVE TO KEEP WORKING HARD TO MAINTAIN AND HOPEFULLY IMPROVE ON WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED THIS SEASON. WELL DONE KIDS AND THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT SHOWN OVER A VERY ENJOYABLE SEASON. WELL DONE. --------- Stats, 2006-2007 Goals scored=107 Goals lost=67 |
