PETERHEAD V THE WASPS.
THE WASPS travel to Peterhead to play for the second week running.
THE WASPS win 6-5 at Peterhead in a very entertaining match.
Goal scorers were DOM BURNS(3) RITCHIE PETRIE(1) DECLAN MCGUNNIGLE(1) and LEWIS STEPHENS(1)
THE WASPS played some nice football at times. In the second period of the
match THE WASPS showed what they are capable of with some lovely football
and well taken goals.
The pleasing thing about today was the quality of the goals scored. Terrific
strikes from Dom, Ritchie and Declan.
Must work harder to stop teams getting back into games. Well Played at times
but must play for sixty minutes or as today we fail to kill off teams.
FINAL SCORE - PETERHEAD 5 THE WASPS 6.

SUSUNDAY 2ND NOVEMBER DYCE BOYS CLUB V THE WASPS AT POTTERTON. THE WASPS head to Potterton with only 12 players after lots of call offs in the morning to play DYCE BOYS CLUB. THE WASPS are forced to play ARNIE in goals for the first time and make a few positional changes because of the numbers. THE WASPS kick off and take the game to their opponents. THE WASPS have started brightly and are forcing Dyce back at every opportunity. THE WASPS are working really hard and are playing nice football. The midfield 4 are winning most balls and looking to feed in the strikers but credit to Dyce who are defending well. THE WASPS force quite a few corners but are unable to take advantage of them. Against the run of play DYCE take the lead with a well worked goal, The ball is played out wide and crossed into the WASPS box and their striker pokes the ball home to give DYCE the lead. THE WASPS continue to push forward despite the set back and are very unlucky to end the period behind. END OF FIRST PERIOD DYCE BOYS CLUB 1 THE WASPS 0 The second period begins with THE WASPS looking for the equaliser. THE WASPS are unlucky not to equalise when JASON DAVIE plays a lovely ball through the Dyce defence for DOM BURNS to run onto and smash a 20 yard shot inches past with the keeper well beaten. THE WASPS back 4 are defending well and this is allowing the midfield to push up and support the front 2 who are causing Dyce all sorts of problems.DOM BURNS then makes a terrific run down the left wing and plays a tremendous ball across the face of the Dyce goal with the onrushing Patrick Cairns and Lewis Stephens only inches away for knocking the ball into the net. Midway through the half JASON DAVIE is upended in the Dyce box and the referee waves away THE WASPS appeal for a penalty. Against the run of play The Wasps are caught out with a fast attack by Dyce and find themselves 2 goals behind. Credit to THE WASPS who keep working and try to force themselves back into the game as the half ends. END OF SECOND PEROID DYCE BOYS CLUB 2 THE WASPS 0 The final period begins and THE WASPS continue to push Dyce back. The game is now very stretched with both teams working very hard. THE WASPS keep forcing Dyce back but are finding the Dyce backline very hard to break down. Midway through the period Declan Mcgunnigle wins the ball in the middle of the park and leaves the Dyce defence stranded before cruelly being taken out by the last Dyce defender on the edge of the box. (A shocking challenge and very disappointed that the Dyce management allowed the kid to stay on the park.)For all their efforts THE WASPS are awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box. Lewis Stephens is very unlucky with a fine effort sailing just over the bar. As the game draws to a close Dyce push forward and catch out a very tired WASPS defence with a through ball and the Dyce striker latches onto it before rolling the ball into THE WASPS net for a third goal. FINAL SCORE DYCE BOYS CLUB 3 THE WASPS 0 A terrific performance from THE WASPS today. Very solid, good shape, tremendous work rate and commitment. On another day the result could have been so different if we had got the breaks. In games like these it is important that we take our chances. Credit to Dyce for making the most of their opportunities. The most important thing about today was that the signs are looking good as the improvement in our shape and fitness was there for all to see. Keep up the good work. The team display in a long time. Well Played. New section to be opened soon called "THE NOTICE BOARD" and the fixtures page will be made easier to understand.

THE WASPS V GLENTANAR. At HAZLEHEAD PARK. SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER. The Wasps entertain Glentanar today and after last weeks display make 1 change. Jay Knowles returns in goal with Arnie playing at the back and Ritchie pushing into midfield. The game kicks off in very cold and windy conditions. The Wasps are playing against a very strong wind in the first period and are finding it hard to get going. Glentanar as usual are well organised and fighting for everything. Midway through the first half , THE WASPS miss the best chance of the game when PATRICK CAIRNS is put through one and one with the keeper but the keeper is quickly off his line and makes a good save. The game is quite scrappy with both sets of players finding it hard in the windy conditions. THE WASPS are having more of the possession but are finding Glentanar a tough nut to crack. The fist period ends goalless. END OF FIRST PERIOD THE WASPS O GLENTANAR O THE WASPS make a few changes with MATTHEW, ROSS and JASON replacing PATRICK, REGAN and RYAN. Despite the changes the pattern of the game remains much the same with THE WASPS having lots of possession but not really doing nothing with it. As the half progresses both teams have a few efforts at goal but none of these efforts cause problems for the keepers. With only a few minutes remaining in the half THE WASPS keep GLENTANAR in their own half but cannot find a way through against a spirited GLENTANAR backline. END OF SECOND PERIOD THE WASPS O GLENTANAR O The final period begins and RITCHIE PETRIE picks the ball up on the halfway line and drives at the GLENTANAR defence, he gets to the bye-line and cuts the ball back only for a GLENTANAR foot to block and clear the danger. GLENTANAR then grab the lead with a good cross into the box, it looks like it is going to be missed by everyone but a good touch and strike from THE GLENTANAR striker and the ball is in the net to give GLENTANAR the lead. THE WASPS continue to push forward but still cannot find a way through until with 5 mins remaining the ball is played into the box by REECE MATTHEW and PATRICKS CAIRNS is there to strike the ball home from inside the box to make it 1 - 1. THE WASPS continue to push forward but are unable to grab a winner. FINAL SCORE THE WASPS 1 GLENTANAR 1 GOALSCORER PATRICK CAIRNS. Conditions today were very difficult for both teams. Can't fault work rate, commitment and effort but today was one of these games that no matter how good a position we got into our final pass was just never right. Well done for fighting back and getting a deserved equaliser. Some good steady performances today again from quite a few but must start making the right decisions when further up the field. Well played to GLENTANAR. |

SUNDAY 16TH NOVEMBER WESTDYKE UNDER 12s V THE WASPS UNDER 12s at WESTHILL. THE WASPS travel to WESTDYKE to play on a cold windy morning. The match kicks off with THE WASPS playing against a strong wind. THE WASPS make 2 changes with MATTHEW FRASER and JASON DAVIE returning to the starting line up. THE WASPS start the match well and open the scoring when a hopeful cross into the WESTDYKE box is not dealt with and LEWIS STEPHEN is there to knock the ball home to give THE WASPS a early advantage. As the half progresses WESTDYKE are beginning to put pressure onto THE WASPS backline with some nice passing moves but THE WASPS backline are defending well and despite all there possession THE WASPS look quite comfortable and dangerous on the counter attack. As the half comes to a close a great surging run and shot from JASON DAVIE is well saved by THE WESTDYKE keeper. END OF THE FIRST PERIOD WESTDYKE 0 THE WASPS 1 THE WASPS are forced to make a change with PATRICK CAIRNS replacing REECE MATTHEWS. THE WASPS start the half brightly and force WESTDYKE back, forcing a couple of corners. THE WASPS are working really hard and fighting for everything. The back four are defending well and the 4 midfielders are working hard to create an opening for the second goal. WESTDYKE are also working hard and as in the first half playing some nice football. THE WASPS get a break near the end of the half when a well struck shot from 25 yards out smashes against their crossbar with JAY well beaten, luckily for THE WASPS the ball rebounds into JAY'S hands and the score-line remains 1-0 to THE WASPS. END OF THE SECOND PERIOD WESTDYKE 0 THE WASPS 1 The final period kicks off with THE WASPS determined to hold onto their lead. THE WASPS continue to defend well and look to catch WESTDYKE on the break. A nice through ball by DECLAN MCGUNNIGLE sends PATRICK CAIRNS through towards THE WESTDYKE goal, he takes on the last defender before firing just over the WESTDYKE goal. THE WASPS then grab a second when a nice through ball by RITCHIE PETRIE sends DOM BURNS through on goal, DOM makes no mistake driving the ball past the WESTDYKE keeper to give THE WASPS a 2 - 0 lead. WESTDYKE to their credit force THE WASPS back in the dying minutes but THE WASPS defence stands firm. FINAL SCORE WESTDYKE 0 THE WASPS 2 GOALSCORERS LEWIS STEPHEN, DOM BURNS What a difference a week makes. Very good performance from THE WASPS. The back 4 looked very secure and cleared their lines well. The midfield worked hard and fought for everything and to cap it all off a tremendous finish from DOM BURNS. Very good, solid performance. Very good shape. Lets keep up the hard work boys. Well Played against a very neat and tidy WESTDYKE under 12s team. +++++++++ As the team have been excellent in recent weeks the coaches have decided to treat the players with an hour of fun at Goals Bridge of Dee. PLEASE BE THERE FOR 6-6.10pm TUESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER for 1 hour of pure fun! |
